Working principle and classification of pressure reducing skid

Jan 10, 2024 Leave a message

A pressure reducing skid, also called a pressure reducing valve or pressure reducer, is a device that controls fluid pressure by adjusting the valve aperture or changing the inner diameter of the pipe. When the pressure in the pipeline exceeds the set value, the pressure reducing skid will automatically start to automatically release the excessive pressure, thereby protecting the system equipment from damage due to overpressure. The pressure reducing skid usually consists of a piston, a valve seat, a valve, an adjusting spring, an adjusting screw, etc. It can be divided into many types according to its structure and working principle:

1. Direct acting pressure reducing skid
The direct-acting pressure reducing skid is a relatively simple pressure reducing valve, consisting of a valve body, a valve seat and a spring. When the pressure of the liquid or gas in the pipeline exceeds the set value, the spring will be compressed, the valve will open, and the over-pressure liquid or gas will be released from the valve, thereby protecting the normal operation of the system.

2. Indirect acting pressure reducing skid
The indirect-acting pressure reducing skid is mainly composed of a main valve, a control valve and an actuator. Its characteristic is that the control valve and actuator can dynamically adjust the pressure fluctuations before and after the main valve, thereby achieving the effect of pressure reduction. Indirect acting pressure reducing skids are widely used in petroleum, chemical industry, metallurgy, electric power, light industry and other fields.
