In general pressure regulator, after the high pressure gas is depressurized through the pipeline, the gas is directly output through the pipeline without buffer because the diameter of the inlet pipe and the delivery pipe at both ends of the regulator are the same, which will cause the gas pressure to be unstable.
Usually, some manufacturing companies will set up a spherical buffer space in the gas pipeline, so that the decompressed gas along the pipeline into the spherical buffer space for buffering, so that the output gas pressure tends to stabilize.
The spherical buffer space is difficult to process and needs to be welded on the gas pipeline, which increases the workload, and when the welding quality is not good, it is easy to have gas leakage.
Precautions for Selecting Pressure Reducing Skid
According to different working conditions and use conditions, it is very important to choose the right pressure reducing skid. When choosing a pressure reducing skid, you need to consider the material of the pipeline, pressure, flow rate, medium and other factors. The following points should also be noted:
Select the appropriate pressure reducing skid, the pressure should not exceed its rated pressure range;

Pressure reducing skid, also called pressure reducing valve or pressure reducer, is a device that controls fluid pressure by adjusting the valve aperture or changing the inner diameter of the pipeline. When the pressure in the pipeline exceeds the set value, the pressure reducing skid will be automatically activated to automatically release the excessive pressure, so as to protect the system equipment from damage due to overpressure. Pressure reducing skid usually consists of piston, seat, valve, adjusting spring, adjusting screw, etc., according to its structure and working principle can be divided into many kinds:
Direct-acting pressure reducing skid
Direct-acting pressure-reducing skid is a relatively simple pressure-reducing valve, composed of valve body, valve seat and spring. When the pressure of the liquid or gas in the pipeline exceeds the set value, the spring will be compressed, the valve opens, and the overpressurized liquid or gas is discharged from the valve, thus protecting the normal operation of the system.
Indirect acting pressure reducing skid
Indirect-acting pressure reducing skid is mainly composed of main valve, control valve and actuator. It is characterized by dynamic adjustment of pressure fluctuation before and after the main valve through the control valve and actuator, so as to achieve the effect of pressure reduction. Indirect acting pressure reducing skid is widely used in petroleum, chemical, metallurgy, electric power, light industry and other fields.
Pressure Reducing Skid Precautions
When using the pressure reducing skid, there are several important precautions to be observed to ensure the safe and effective operation of the pressure reducing skid:
1. Pre-operation checks
• Ensure that the regulator, shut-off valve, overpressure relief valve, pneumatic valve, instrument air and other equipment is normal.
• Check that the heating system is normal.
• Connect the high-pressure hose of the unloading pipe with the quick-fitting connector on the CNG tanker.
• Close the pressure reducing skid pressure gauge, open the pressure reducing skid temperature transmitter, pressure transmitter control valve.
• Open the control cabinet of the pressure reducing skid, and the button of the emergency shut-off valve is in the automatic state. Calibrate the display parameters with the on-site display parameters of the pressure regulator.
• Turn on the electric heating, adjust the water temperature to the rated temperature.
• Turn on the air compressor, open the third-party gas supply valve, pneumatic emergency shut-off valve should be in the open state.
2. Operation precautions
• In normal gas supply, the valve should be opened and closed slowly, and fast opening and closing is strictly prohibited.
• When stopping the gas supply and closing the pressure reducing skid, the valve of the unloading port of the tanker should be closed first, and then close the valve of the inlet pipeline of the unloading pipe, and then close the valve of the pressure reducing skid in turn, and finally close the heat exchanger. In all operations, the opening and closing of the valve needs to be carried out slowly, it is strictly prohibited to open and close the operation quickly.
3. Equipment selection and maintenance
• Before purchasing natural gas pressure reducing skid, you need to understand the actual peak natural gas consumption and gas pressure. According to the actual demand to choose the appropriate pressure reducing skid models and specifications, to avoid the selection of too large or too small to cause problems.
• The pressure reducing skid must be regularly calibrated and the pressure gauge must be regularly inspected to ensure the reliability of pressure regulation and the accuracy of the pressure gauge reading.
• If the pressure reducing crowbar is found to be frozen during use, it should be thawed with hot water or steam, and should never be baked with flame or red iron.
• The pressure reducing crowbar must be kept clean and must not be contaminated with grease or dirt.
Every time before use, should check the central console of the instrument and indicator status, hot water and compressed air parameters and equipment operating conditions, the site process and valve position. After the above checks are normal, open the unloading valve, the total inlet valve, press the field start button, the pressure regulator into normal use.
When normal shutdown, close the unloading valve, the total inlet valve, press the shutdown button. According to the process requirements to close the relevant valves, auxiliary equipment, if necessary, should consider the hot water system emptying and electrical system power failure. The regulator is in shutdown standby mode.
When the CNG unit is in an abnormal situation, the self-protection system will automatically close the emergency shut-off valve and alarm in the central control room with sound and light signals. After human intervention or automatic elimination of the abnormal condition, it can be restarted according to the normal startup procedure. At any time, as long as the pressure at all levels of ultra-high, heat transfer return water temperature is too low and any other abnormal conditions exist, the regulator is forced to shut down until the cause of the abnormality is found and eliminated, then it may be reused.
Emergency stop buttons are provided in the central control room and on site in case of any perceived emergency stop.
Although the CNG unit is equipped with a function to prevent the impact of medium gas flow, care should be taken not to open and close the manual valves too quickly during use.
Periodic inspections should be made and recorded to ensure stable operation. Inspection should observe the indoor instrumentation, indicators, outdoor instrumentation, indicators, operating noise, dynamic and static sealing points.
Open and close the valves regularly, check the opening and closing flexibility, and add lubricating grease.
Regularly check and test the instrument control system and self-protection interlocking system. And should be measured in accordance with the relevant provisions of the measurement, display instrumentation for regular calibration.
Regular sub-channel overhaul. After overhaul should be in accordance with the requirements of the relevant norms for construction and acceptance before being put into use.
